Graeme Hind

Graeme has travelled Australia and much of the world, by all manner of transport. Whether it be by countless trains, motorcycles, or cars, and once through Africa in a ‘worse for wear’ Kombi van. Originally from Sydney, his work and travels have taken him to over 50 countries and he has resided in a number of rural locations in NSW and Tasmania, and currently rural Victoria. He has been fortunate to have lived in Canada, and spent a few years in living in South Africa whilst working for the railways there. His fascination with trains and travel was ignited at a very young age when he experienced the dying days of steam on the railways of NSW, and this fascination continues today. He became active in the railway preservation movement from an early age, and enthusiastically followed every boy’s dream of becoming a steam engine driver. These days he can be often found as a regular volunteer steam driver and trainer at a number of preserved railways in Victoria. Graeme’s more professional career was in engineering, operations, and management of water resources, a field in which he is still casually consults.

Graeme joined the Railway Adventures team in 2020, and since then has led a number of tours to Vietnam, Norway, Sweden, Outback NSW and of course his own back yard, Victoria. Some favorite places to travel?

Graeme says “The back blocks of Australia, the Isle of Man (Motor bikes AND trains!), and anywhere where you learn something you didn’t already know!”
