The Tiny Town of Trundle and the Amazing Abba Festival

The ABBA Trundle Festival is an exciting event held in the charming rural community of Trundle, located 65km north-west of Parkes on “The Bogan Way”. With a population of only 335 people, Trundle is primarily known for its wheat, sheep, and cattle farming. This delightful country town boasts the widest main street in NSW and the longest wooden verandah in Australia, which belongs to the Heritage-Listed Trundle Hotel built in 1909. The two-storey hotel was constructed using pise mud, rendered with cement, and adorned with a 66-metre long wooden verandah.

The Trundle ABBA Festival was established in 2012 by Gary and Ruth Crowley, who were inspired by the Parkes Elvis Festival and thought that an ABBA Festival would be a fantastic idea. When they couldn’t find one to attend, they decided to create one themselves! Trundle is now the only home of the ABBA Festival in Australia, a joyous celebration of the iconic Swedish supergroup ABBA’s music, formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Over the years, the festival has faced some challenges, with the Trundle ABBA 2022 cancelled due to floods, and in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID. However, in 2023, Trundle will once again host the ABBA Festival, with a day packed full of family-friendly entertainment. The festival will be headlined by Bjorn Again, the World’s No.1 ABBA Tribute Band. It promises to be a fantastic time with a range of entertainment for all. ABBA fans from all over the world are expected to bring their dancing shoes and sparkly outfits to the world’s only ABBA Festival in Trundle.

The festival will feature the world’s number one ABBA tribute band, Bjorn Again, who put on an excellent show at the Parkes Leagues Club last year following the cancellation of the festival. Three fabulous bands will support Bjorn Again and guarantee that Trundle’s Berryman Oval will be full of Dancing Queens throughout the day. Disco Revolution, the hottest live disco show on the circuit, will have the crowd dancing to classic hits from the 70’s and 80’s. For those who prefer soul, rhythm, and blues, the fun-loving Blues Brothers Re-Booted will entertain with their set.

The festival is a family-friendly and entertaining day, as Trundle comes alive with colour, glitter, and music. The jam-packed line-up will have you dancing all day long. It’s time to dance, jive, and have the time of your lives as the Trundle ABBA Festival returns to light up the streets.
